"California is a place in which a boom mentality and a sense of Chekhovian loss meet in uneasy suspension; in which the mind is troubled by some buried and ineradicable suspicion that things work out better here, because here, beneath the immense bleached sky, is where we run out of continent." -Joan Didion

As a fourth generation California native, my desire to in some way capture and make sense of my surroundings, as futile an exercise as that may be, has been a constant. Life and travel  abroad have broadened my perspective and deepened my appreciation for the inherent tension, immense scale and expanse of the American West.  My background and ongoing interest in language, performance, music and dance continue to shape and refine my sensibility while informing my relationship to the materials I paint with.
